As 2017 begins, we are excited to announce a new addition to the Omega3 Innovations family: A separate line of Omega Cure® Extra Strength vials called Omega Restore. Omega Restore combines our fresh Omega Cure with another super-nutrient, namely melatonin.
How did we get started with melatonin? It was more or less a coincidence.
As our customers know, we are passionate about omega-3 freshness. For many years, we have been working on perfecting our super fresh fish oil. The fight to preserve freshness starts as soon as you pull the fish from the water, and gets particularly challenging when you extract the omega-3 oil from the fish tissue. During this step, it is important to not only limit the oil’s contact with oxygen, but to also protect the omega-3 molecules from the enzymes that are liberated during the maceration of the tissues.
We explored all possible natural antioxidants that could be added during this first extraction state, including green tea and different herbs. Then, I came across several articles talking about melatonin.
“Melatonin,” I thought. “Isn’t that a sleep regulator used for jet lag?”
Well, I continued reading, and I learned that melatonin is likely one of nature’s most effective antioxidants. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory effects and manages our internal clock. Found in some of the healthiest foods, as well as the organs most vulnerable to inflammation (like the brain, retina or intestinal tract), melatonin appears to act as one of the body’s key regulators. Indeed, most life on earth seem to be dependent on this potent substance.
The more I read about melatonin, the more I started to become interested in the interaction between omega-3 and melatonin. Might they work together?
I found that in nature, one of melatonin’s main functions is to protect fats from going rancid and thus prevent the aging of the cells. And in foods, like unrefined cod liver oil, these substances exist together.
We started exploring what would happen if we added melatonin into our present Omega Cure vials. We started off by asking willing participants to take melatonin tablets in the evening in addition to Omega Cure. The feedback wasn’t overwhelming, and I didn’t get much enthusiasm for that combination. Could it be because melatonin pills typically consist of up to 99% fillers? I am not sure.
Next, I decided to put pure melatonin directly into Omega Cure vials.
Suddenly, we were getting a very different response. People told me they were falling asleep faster, snoring less, dramatically reducing their night time trips to the bathroom, had more energy during the day, better focus, less use of pain medication, and fewer allergy symptoms. Customers who had been using Omega Cure for years said they were feeling more benefits.
There are 20,000 scientific articles about melatonin, so this is not an unexplored substance. What is new is the acknowledgment of its physiological importance and the role it plays in virtually every organ’s functionality.
In the coming weeks, we will be publishing more pieces on how the combination of omega-3 with melatonin may be important for not just overcoming jet lag, but preparing for surgical procedures, better sleep quality, improved focus, and protecting vision.
In contrast to our other Omega3 Innovations products, Omega Restore is not for everyone. It should not be used by children or during pregnancy or breastfeeding without conferring with your physician.
While Omega Restore is not available for sale online yet, we are taking order over the phone and selling it locally. If you have questions about Omega Restore and would like to give it a try, give us a call at 866.414.188.
