How Switching from Fish Oil Capsules Transformed this Woman’s Perspective on Omega-3 Benefits
A researcher by nature, Christine Currie from Southern California thought she was doing the best for her body with top-of-the-line fish oil capsules. But when her DO told her she was nonetheless deficient in omega-3, Christine started investigating just how much benefit she was getting from her capsules – and researching what might be a better alternative.
In this July 2015 Customer of the Month story, Christine shares how she found Omega Cure.
Omega3 Innovations: How long have you been taking Omega Cure?
Christine Currie: About one year.
O3I: What made you decide to take a chance on Omega Cure?
CC: I’m a breast cancer survivor. I had been on chemo for a year and a half, followed by tamoxifen. I felt terrible. So I decided to go to a DO (doctor of osteopathic medicine) who was highly recommended to see where my body was and how I could get in shape.
I had a couple of cuts on my arm that weren’t healing. Even before he did any testing, the DO looked at me and said, “You are deficient in fish oil.”
I was taking a very expensive capsule product and was shocked to learn it didn’t even come close to the minimum dose needed.
That night, I woke up at 2:00 am in the morning because I couldn’t sleep, and I started researching. I skipped over your website initially. But I wound up going back to your website at 4:00 in the morning, and I didn’t go back to sleep at all. Everything on your site confirmed what my doctor had said.
I called in the morning and the guy who answered stayed on the phone with me for half an hour. Even though I am in California, I decided it was worth a try. I have been thrilled.
O3I: What was your experience with fish oil before using Omega Cure?
CC: I had literally just bought Nordic Naturals capsules before trying the Omega Cure. I never had burps from the capsules, so I thought the oil inside was fine. But when I looked at the bottle, I realized I’d have to take 8 capsules a day to get the benefits. And when I cut one of the capsules open, it just reeked.
I think I paid $35 for that bottle of Nordic Naturals capsules. I did what the label directed me to – I took 2 capsules a day. Then, I realized I was spending a lot of money and not getting any of the benefits.
O3I: You’ve talked about the benefits you’ve experienced for skin and chronic pain. Did you expect to experience those kinds of benefits?
CC: For the skin, I was kind of looking forward to seeing those benefits.
The thing that really shocked me though and that I’ve been counting as even more important since, was the benefit for the pain.
I had an injury to my back when I was 14 years old. When they diagnosed me with cancer with the pet scan, they said “Do you realize you have severe arthritis in your back?” And I was like, “ya think?” I had gotten numb to the pain over the years.
But at the two or three month mark of taking Omega Cure, it occurred to me, “My back doesn’t hurt.”
Maybe if I do some spring cleaning around the house, I might take an Aleve® to offset any discomfort…but I haven’t taken a pain pill since. And I’m more flexible. I can move that part of my back. It’s not stiff like before.
O3I: You also order the Omega Cookies and Heaven cookies in addition to using Omega Cure. How do you integrate all the products into your daily life?
CC: I either do the oil straight or I’ll put it in a smoothie. And I like the cookies as a meal replacement. I don’t take both cookies and oil in one day. I fear that might be too much…
If I want something sweet, the Omega Heaven is kind of a nice little treat.
O3I: How do other people react when you tell them about the products?
CC: I went to Florida, and brought some Omega Heavens for the family. I had to divvy the Omega Heavens amongst the grandchildren, and make sure they were all even sizes.
I cut up the cookies and gave them each a section. I told them, “You eat this, then I’ll tell you what’s in the cookie.”
At first they kind of nibbled on their piece. But when they realized they liked it, they ate the cookie. Afterwards I told them and their eyes nearly popped out, “There’s fish oil in there???”
O3I: What advice would you give to someone starting out with Omega Cure?
CC: I was a little bit reluctant to drink the oil by itself for about a week. It feels weird to drink oil.
If you like smoothies, I’d recommend putting the Omega Cure in a smoothie. And if you don’t think you’d go for either one of them [straight oil or the smoothie], then try the cookies.
O3I: Any other information you would like to share?
CC: If you are worried about shipping coast to coast, that has proven not to be an issue. That was a big concern for me. But every time my shipment has showed up, it’s been warm, but the bottle hasn’t been hot at all. I’ve never been concerned.
