Omega3 Innovations: We’d love to learn a little more about you. What are some of your interests?
Ginya Carnahan: Well, I have spent almost all of my professional life working in and around health care. It’s been wonderful for me because I learn something nearly every day. And working is something that brings me much pleasure.
I moved to Florida from Tennessee in the 80s. I spent time in the Florida Panhandle, then Miami. Then I moved to Sarasota. I ended up coming to work for the Dattoli Cancer Center when it first opened, and I’ve been here ever since. We treat prostate cancer here, and we have patients come from all over the world.
Sometimes, people ask, “Isn’t it depressing to work at a cancer center.” And there are of course sad cases. But by and large, our patients do very well, thanks to the expertise and outreach of the two doctors here and the staff who support them.
It’s a real blessing to enjoy what you do. There’s never been one day that I haven’t wanted to come to work.
O3I: How did you first learn about the Omega Cookie?
GC: I’m always aware of trying to stay healthy. I have known about the benefits of omega-3 for a long time. I was one of the first people who were taking fish oil capsules, and I thought, “This is terrible.” I always got nasty fish burps taking the capsules.
Then, about five years ago, I heard Dr. Martinsen speak at a meeting for a prostate cancer support group. He talked about how they sourced the oil and how they work to keep the oil fresh.
I started buying the Omega Cookies at the Sarasota Farmers Market, and I became an Omega Cookie addict.
O3I: What kind of a difference have you seen with the Omega Cookies?
GC: The Omega Cookie is delicious. It has solved several problems for me. I was unhappy with the omega-3 fish oil capsules that I had been taking. I had begun to read a little bit about rancid oil, and how you’re not really doing yourself any good when you are taking those kinds of supplements.
The Omega Cookie has been the right way for me to get a legitimate, fresh oil, and it gives me a good breakfast. I have to have something to eat in the morning, but I don’t eat breakfast at home. The cookie has just enough bulk to make me feel like I’ve eaten.
O3I: What is your Omega Cookie routine?
GC: I have one for breakfast every morning, with an apple and cup of green tea.
I take a cookie out of the freezer, and I drive to work. When I get to work, I make my tea. Then, I wrap the Omega Cookie in a paper towel, and I put it in the microwave for 15 to 16 seconds. It’s just yummy! It’s soft and warm and good for you. And so much better than taking those nasty capsules.
I eat a lot of salmon and have a decent diet as well. But the Omega Cookie gives me a wonderful, tasty breakfast.
O3I: Do you have any advice for people who might be interested in trying the Omega Cookie?
GC: People say, “You eat a cookie for breakfast?” I say, it’s really a biscuit.
I tell people all the time that I love them and that it takes care of the omega-3. I never get any fish burps anymore.
