For One Family, A Chocolatey Fix for Focus in School
Chocolate for breakfast? Yes, says, JoAnn, who started her son on the Omega Passion chocolate truffles after looking for a high quality, easy-to-swallow omega-3 supplement.
In this August 2016 Customer of the Month story, JoAnn shares how Omega Passion helped her son’s focus in school and became an important and tasty part of the whole family’s day-to-day.
Omega3 Innovations: You’ve been an Omega3 Innovations regular since 2013. What got you started with Omega Passion?
JoAnn: My son at the time. We were working with a nutritionist, Kelly Dorfman. She’s the author of the book Cure Your Child with Food. My son has special needs (an ADHD diagnosis and dysgraphia), so she recommended a lot of supplements for him.
At the time, my son couldn’t swallow a pill. We were looking for something high quality that would help with his focus. He loved the Omega Passion chocolates. It was like a special treat, getting chocolate in the morning.
Today, he has a little brother. His little brother at 3 years old discovered the Omega Passion, and I have to hide them from him. Now that you have the mint chocolates, I’ve started on them too!
Then I discovered Omega Cure, which I take for myself. I use the Omega Cure Extra Strength vials, which works out well. When I bought the whole bottle, after a week or two, I just would stop doing it. I don’t know if it’s washing the spoon or what it is…But that one less step with the vials makes it so much easier.
O3I: What kind of a difference did you notice for your son when you started with the Omega Passion?
JA: You know to be honest, it’s hard to say because when we started with the chocolates, we started with a lot of other things at the same time. I just feel like he’s doing a lot better at school. Before we started on this, we were on all these medications. He is not on medications now.
It’s easier to solve problems today. There was one teacher at school in particular that he was struggling with. I realized he had this class right before lunch. He was hungry. I sent him the Omega Passion chocolates in a little bag with ice. He could pop them in between classes, and he started doing better in this class.
He had another class at the very end of the day. And the teacher said, “He’s goofy, he’s silly.”
I said, “Is it possible for him to do some exercise before class starts?” She tried it and she said it helped the whole class. It gave him that extra help to focus.
O3I: It’s inspiring to hear how you were able to create a positive change for the whole class. What was it like, integrating Omega Passion into your son’s routine?
JA: It was fine. I told him the chocolates were full of omega-3s and what they were good for. When I gave it to him, he said, “Wow, that’s good.”
When we started, you had the big blocks of Omega Passion. He was eating one of those every morning. Today [with the smaller chocolates], we do four chocolates a day. He’ll take two in the morning. He’ll say, “Can I have my chocolate?” Sometimes after school, he’ll have a craving for something sweet and he’ll have two more.
We’ve got the [empty Omega Passion] tins all filled with pins and pencil holders. We’re using them.
O3I: What made you decide to try Omega Cure?
JA: I myself have an ADHD diagnosis. I had read a lot about how omega-3 in general can help you out. I haven’t read anything about this specifically, but it made sense to me that taking the oil in liquid form, without the pill, would be better absorbed into the body.
I have been taking the oil for focus. I also had a surgery in the past. [After that experience], I feel safer knowing that I have that extra piece helping with blood flow and circulation.
O3I: What is your Omega Cure Extra Strength routine?
JA: I drink it straight in the morning with a cup of coffee.
O3I: Do you have any advice for people who may be interested in trying Omega Passion or Omega Cure Extra Strength?
JF: Try it and be consistent with it. Take it at the same time every day so you are consistent.
I noticed an improvement in my memory with Omega Cure. I was trying to remember a phone number. You know how you need a few seconds to write it down? I have 3 kids, I don’t sleep much, and my memory is shot. I remembered a phone number, and I was like “Holy crap, my memory is improving.” This was the only thing I was doing differently.
I have been bad this past month because we went on vacation and I didn’t bring the vials with me. But when I do it every day, like clockwork, that’s when it works.
